ISLA ZAPATERA

Zapatera is a protected volcano that forms the island of Zapatera located within the Great Lake of Nicaragua or Cocibolca near its southwestern coast. Zapatera and ten nearby islands make up the Zapatera Archipelago National Park, one of Nicaragua's protected areas. To reach this volcanic island it is necessary to take a boat from the coast of Granada. There is no regular public transportation, so the trip must be coordinated with Pangoros at the Essi docks.
